Student scientific and practical conference at the college:

“Medical terminology in two languages: Latin roots and English communication in international practice”

A student scientific and practical conference (part 1, part 2) was held at our college, dedicated to an important topic – the use of Latin and English in medical terminology. The event was organized by the Central Committee of Foreign Languages ​​and Latin with the active participation of students.

The participants of the conference examined in detail how Latin became the basis of modern medical terminology, why English is key for international medical communication, and how the combination of these two languages ​​helps in the translation of specialized texts and professional communication with patients.

The reports at the conference covered the following topics:

Latin is the basis of modern medical terminology – its influence on anatomical, diagnostic and pharmacological terms.

English as the language of international medical communication – the role of English in the professional environment and its use during internships and international conferences.

The relationship between Latin and English in medical terminology – how Latin roots shape English medical terms.

Medical text translation: challenges and life hacks – difficulties and useful tips when translating medical texts, in particular Latin abbreviations.

Professional communication of a medical professional with a foreign patient – ​​practical dialogues and tips on the correct use of medical terms in communicating with patients.
